I was 17 when I read Twilight, and at the time it was so perfect for me. The script was about young kids who think they can handle stuff that they just can't. And they're going to do it anyway. Because, why not? Just torture yourself. I relate to that. Vampires are a little dangerous - and we girls like to test ourselves.

There's a road I'm going down now, and I'm aware that there's not as much of an audience for strange movies - for different, eclectic movies - and I totally accept that. I don't know where it comes from. I just want to achieve a certain feeling. You do have to be aware of what's coming out, because you're telling a story. You can't always lose yourself, although that’s when it's at its best. I don't have a lot of control over it because I'm not really the best technical actor. There are actors I've worked with who, at the drop of a hat, can pull out whatever they need to convey something. My most heightened emotional scenes have always snuck up on me. I've never been able to push a tear out. You have to have a faith that, because you love a part so much, what you're trying to do will find its way through you, but sometimes it doesn't. That happens to me all the time. I don't think I’m ever going to acquire that skill, and I'm pretty sure there will be times when people will get confused and say, "That's weird - she should have been so much better in that." But there will times in between where I'll get lucky.

It's hard to generalize about the characters that I've played because they all have their separate issues. I don't know what types of characters, especially if they're young girls, who wouldn't be considered disaffected. I think to play a completely mindless happy person would be mindless and happy, but boring. I don't know what the hell I'm doing. I'm just playing parts that speak to me. The only thing I would never do is a big explosion movie. I couldn't handle it. I would totally break down.

Anywhere we'd go for Twilight was a psychotic situation. The sound was deafening, and it's thoughtless, as well. It's so manic that you're just pushed and pulled around... You get a slew of all these bullshit questions like, "What's it like to kiss a vampire?" and "How much do you love Robert?" Then you'll get one that's actually real, but you're like, "No, I can't right now - I can't even consider..."

Om Bella i New Moon:

Well, she loses what basically gives her the drive to do anything in her whole life. She loses the man she's in love with, but she also loses her entire life plan, and she's so young to have to be forced into a decision like that. It's just a glorified, elaborate version of the worst breakup you've ever been through. All of a sudden you question everything. All of a sudden you know nothing and you're dropped in the middle of a freezing cold ocean. Oddly, we have a character that's warm enough and bright enough to bring her out of that, and it's truly gut-ripping. Because as perfect as Jacob is for her, she holds on to an ideal, the ultimate fiery love that she has for Edward even though it's not comfortable, it's not practical and it's not a good idea.
